Amazingly, I am not as sore as I had expected today, which is good because my trapeze class is tomorrow. I definitely feel it in my glutes and abs, which makes complete sense. My other leg muscles are less effected, but I still feel it some. I'm glad I didn't obliterate my leg muscles.
One cool thing to note. I think the yoga helped with my ice skating. In the yoga class, there was a balance pose where you stand on one foot, with the other foot resting on your calf. It really forced me to balance and use the stabilizing muscles in my legs. At my ice skating, I dramatically improved on all my 1 foot glides. It was essentially the same position as the pose - only my other foot was simply lifted and I was moving. So, that was a pleasantly unexpected benefit of yoga. I'm glad it's on the same day as my ice skating lesson. I might do that balance pose a couple of times a week.
Today is my 30th birthday! It's a very exciting day! I am working today, but I'm having lunch with my husband and our friend at a new restaurant - Sweet Tomatoes. It's a soup and salad bar type place. So, I'm looking forward to a healthy, light lunch. For dinner, my husband's taking me to a Greek Restaurant called Spiros. I had been planning on getting the prime rib, but it appears that it is not healthy at all - even after cutting all the visible fat off. So, I think I'm going to go for something else - maybe something totally different even. Maybe lamb or something. I'll have to look up some stats on that.
Sweet Tomatoes was an excellent choice for lunch. The salad bar had lots of choices for veggies, and there were many soups to pick from. There was a lot of fresh fruit, too, but I needed to stick with my plan. It was a very clean restaurant, and the food looked very fresh. The only drawback is that it was expensive for what I ate. It would probably be a better value money-wise if I would have had more calories to allot for the meal there (since it's an all-you-can-eat type buffet). I was very pleased with the chicken noodle soup. There were long strips of chicken breast meat in the soup, so I tailored my cup of soup to have more chicken and fewer noodles and broth. I'll bet that I actually got closer to 20g of protein in my bowl of soup, but I'll bet the calories were pretty close to the 170. I had 1 grape to add a sweet finish to the meal! It was an excellent birthday lunch!
As the day has progressed, I definitely feel it in my abs right now. I hope that they are recovered for tomorrow's trapeze class. I might need to rethink doing abs and legs on Tuesday. It might be too close to Thursday's trapeze lesson. Of course, I might be fine by tomorrow. I'll just have to wait and see.
